(71) Experts have long thought that depression could be bad for your heart. A new study demonstrates just how dangerous it can be. Brenda Penninx, a gerontologist(老年病学家) at Wake Forest University, North Caroline, and her colleagues followed 2847 people over the age of 55-both with and without heart disease-for four years in order to trace the effects of depression.

(72) In the end, they found that people with major depression were at least three times as likely to die of heart disease as were patients who weren't depressed. Even subjects with mild depression a fatality rate that was 50 percent higher than normal.

Brenda Penninx isn't sure exactly what the connection between heart disease and depression is, but since depression can raise stress, and stress triggers an outpouring of the hormone cortis01(荷尔蒙肾上腺皮质素) , and this could cause heart rate and blood pressure to rise.

Other factors could also play a part: Depressed people are less likely to do physical exercise or eat fight than those who do not suffer from the malady. 'Depression deserves a lot more attention than it usually gets'. Penninx warns. 'It's a huge risk factor, so it's really crucial to take care of your emotions.'

5.A lawyer friend of mine has devoted herself to the service of humanity. Her special area is called 'public interest law'. Many other lawyers represent only clients who can pay high fees. China's employment and re-employment situation remains though will a surge(激增) this year in the number of graduates hitting the job market and in unemployment in general, a senior official said.

The country's registered average unemployment rate in urban areas reached 4 percent last year and is expected to go higher this year, Labour and Social, Security Minister Zheng Silin told Xinhua yesterday.

There are nearly 14 million laid-off workers in urban areas so far. And more than 10 million newgraduates are predicted to enter the work force, Zheng said.

(75) To make things worse, the nation's agricultural adjustment has forced more than 150 million rural workers to quit farming. Many of them will head to the cities to seek employment, posing uncertainties for the State, he said.

Zheng, who was appointed as the minister during the first session of the 10th National People's Congress in March, has urged his departments nationwide to do more to assist laid-off workers to restart their lives.
